GETA Project Management Office (PMO) builds structured project methodologies based on industry best practices as well as in-house experience.

GETA PMO sponsors projects to college students and/or provides project guidance to students.

This division offers Education & Training related consultancy and undertakes projects belonging to NGO, government, educational, and commercial institutions. GETA PMO takes particular interest in projects related to improving the rural literacy rates.

GETA PMO builds structured project methodologies based on industry best practices as well as in-house experience.  While we are currently a team of 8 associates, the PMO is directly overseen by the GETA Managing Director Mr. Murali Valiveti.

Mr. Murali has 15 years of industry experience in executing and managing projects. He worked in software development organizations, consulting houses, and in IT divisions of international banks. He held management responsibilities in projects with budgets exceeding 14 million US Dollars (about Rs. 65 crores).  These projects spanned over multiple phases across calendar years and involved over 20 nationalities as well as locations in different countries.

Mr. Murali did his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and Master’s in Industrial Engineering.  He holds professional certifications in Project Management, Software Quality Assurance, ISO 9000 Audits, Six Sigma, etc.  He is a member of industry bodies like Project Management Institute, American Society for Quality, many Special Interest Groups, and Online Communities.  His domain experience covers Banking and Financial Services Industry as well as Manufacturing.  His projects varied from software development to packaged systems implementation to business process re-engineering.

Before launching GETA in November 2005, the last positions Mr. Murali held were of IT Project Office Manager and IT Quality Manager in which the primary responsibilities include mentoring and guiding project managers, overseeing projects execution for quality and timely deliverables.  He developed and managed Structured Methodologies for domestic as well as overseas clients, particularly for IT projects and IT processes.

Besides the human talent pool, GETA is equipped with necessary infrastructure like reference books, Internet terminals, and meeting areas.  GETA PMO is meant to avail all these resources and valuable industry experience to guide a few budding professionals coming out of local colleges.  GETA PMO intends to prepare them better to face the industry after their studies.  To achieve this goal, GETA PMO adopted the approach of sponsoring a few projects each year.

• GETA has projects on subjects related to e-commerce, digital security, Internet technologies like blogs and RSS, multi-lingual web publishing, e-mail and SMS solutions, yellow pages, directories, and so on.  These are real-life projects for GETA or its clients.

• We scoped these projects for durations ranging from 8 weeks to 6 months.

• We offer valuable guidance to the project teams during project execution – starting with a clear scope definition until a professional project report.

• We allocate a few hours each week to guide the project teams as well as to review the progress made.  The teams are required to visit the GETA Office for this schedule.  For the remaining period, they work either at their college or at home as per their convenience.

• While GETA sponsors the project and provide Project Management guidance, the teams are expected to receive the technical knowledge on tools (software or otherwise) from their college or outside. GETA does not have resources nor has an interest to impart such technical training.

• We issue a project experience certificate to the teams fulfilling the project goals satisfactorily.

• As many have asked one common question, just for an explicit clarification, GETA does not accept money from students or the colleges to sponsor projects. GETA objectives have been stated earlier.  In fact, meritorious work will be recognized by means of a stipend from GETA, a commendation letter (testimonial), or perhaps, by job placement facilitation.

All the project teams will have to subscribe to GETA Club that gets them access to a wealth of education and career guidance information.

All in all, besides making a fruitful project happen, during the project period, we imbibe very important soft skills to these teams in preparation to their placements (and even beyond) competing with their counterparts from metropolitan cities.
